The James River Yarn Crawl
The James River Yarn Crawl is scheduled for Sept. 17-25, 2021, and The Flying Needles is one of six participating shops that have been behind the scenes creating an in-store and online event for all.
For nine days, fiber enthusiasts are invited to join either in-person or virtually!

WHAT WILL BE HAPPENING

The James River Yarn Crawl is coming like a freight train, and BOY do we have some SERIOUS FUN planned for you during the Sept. 17-25 event!
We will have a GIANT trunk show in the shop by Megs & Co. Known for her MEGS, 2300 yard / 500 gram hanks of hand-dyed loveliness all on one skein. We also will have trunk shows from our friends MAB Elements, Signature Needles and Pawleys Studios.
ALSO, for the first time, we will be opening up the space next door, suite 12, for two in-person vendors who will be on site the first weekend only, Sept. 17-19 - Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm.
A Virginia vendor, Cottontail Farms will be here with bells on! She's bringing project bags multiplying around her like bunnies! She also is bringing everything except the kitchen sink - wrist rulers, tools and other very cool notions.
Toad Hollow is RETURNING with a full trunk show including quilting fabrics!

The Crawl will start with a bang as all six shops will co-host a Kick-Off party at 7 pm Thursday, Sept. 16.
To make things even more fun, some lucky participant will receive a JRYC swag bag during the kick-off event. During the party, each shop owner will walk you through highlights of what’s going on in each shop during the nine days.

As you know, the James River Yarn Crawl event is a hybrid in-person and virtual event. The Flying Needles will host a LIVE & virtual event at 7 pm Saturday, Sept. 18. Susan will host Toad Hollow's Mary Beth & Helen along with Cottontail Farms Chelsea. Susan will walk you through the show specials, trunk shows, special merchandise, and will have swag to giveaway!

HOW DO I CRAWL IN-PERSON?
For those participating in-person, pick up your James River Yarn Crawl Passport from any participating shop and then tour and visit each of the yarn shops along the trail from Richmond to Virginia Beach.
Once you make a purchase at each yarn shop, the shop will then stamp your passport. Once you have received stamps from all six shops, you can turn in your filled passport at the last shop on your trail. All completed passports will be entered into the Grand Prize Giveaway! Shop prizes also will be at stake – valued at more than $150 each. You can pick up a James River Yarn Crawl Passport at any participating shop beginning Sept. 17.
HOW DO I CRAWL VIRTUALLY?
For those participating virtually, each shop will host a VIRTUAL session for those not able to make an in-person visit. Ours will be 7 pm Saturday, Sept. 18.
To qualify for prizes virtually, make an online purchase at all six locations and hang on to all of your receipts. Complete six purchases from the six participating shops. Collect all purchase receipts in one email. Add the SUBJECT LINE: VIRTUAL PASSPORT SUBMISSION in the subject line, and email your grand prize submission to: jamesriveryarncrawl@gmail.com.
If you shop exclusively online, your email must be received by midnight on Sept. 25 to qualify.

With all of the promotionals we are offering, no customer loyalty points will be accrued. Promotionals cannot be combined with any other specials or discounts.
All Show Specials start Sept. 17 and end Sept. 25. Any purchases made prior to the this date do not quailfy for show specials unless you purchased JRYC Exclusive Pre-orders.
All pre-orders made for any of the exclusives count toward accruing your swag. For all of you who have pre-ordered merchandise, please bring in your receipt with you for your pre-order so we can readily calculate how much swag you earn during your visit.
We so appreciate your business, but due to the number of people we expect, we will not be able to wind your beauties. Please plan to take your purchases with you and bring them back when you are ready to have them wound.
We will not be able to provide pattern support/Ravelry research.
Covid-19 Procedures
There will be uniform COVID restrictions in place at all of the shops.
- Masks are required regardless of vaccination status. If you don't have a mask, we'll have one for you.
- Hand sanitizer will be available, and you are encouraged to use it.
- All shops will also have a maximum limit on the number of shoppers that can be accommodated at any given time. When you arrive you may find a short wait before you can enter the shop. At The Flying Needles, if we are very busy, you will likely find a staff member outside maintaining a wait list to enter the shop.
