START NOW AND HAVE A SWEATER BY THE HOLIDAYS!! And if the thought of knitting a sweater makes you break out in sweats, we assure you, this class will have you feeling like a PRO! A top-down, BEGINNING SWEATER with no seaming or setting pieces in. It’s all KNITTING BABY! This simple Top Down Pullover with raglan sleeves by Tin Can Knits is just GORGEOUS! Pattern sizes go up to a 58” chest. Yarnista & Owner Susan Dickerson will teach this 4-session class held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, July 11, 25, Aug. 8 & 22.

Class Level: Beginner
Skills required: You must be able to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off
What you will learn: Importance of gauge, top-down sweater construction without seams, pattern reading, K2tog, kfb, ssk, using waste yarn to hold stitches, knit sleeves top down on magic loop, picking up stitches around a neck and under arms, binding off in pattern
Materials: 800 to 1800 yards worsted weight yarn WOUND, size 6 & 8 circular needles in both 16” and 32” cables, size 6 & 8 double pointed needles, stitch markers, darning needle, waste yarn, tape measure, gauge guide, scissors, a pencil, a highlighter**
HOMEWORK: Knit a 4” x 4” swatch (stockinette stitch – knit on right side & purl on wrong side) with your size 8 needles & yarn and confirm gauge prior to 1st class (please come to the shop if you need assistance).

**Notes for the Top-Down Beginning Man’s Sweater: You will be writing on your pattern. Please bring a copy if you don’t want to mark your original. Have 1 or 2 skeins of your yarn wound prior to class if it comes in hanks. If you are uncertain of your size or the number of skeins you need, remember that wound yarn cannot be returned. Leave your last 1 or 2 hanks unwound, in case you have over bought.
